Head Sommelier

About the role

Claudine, a French neo‑brasserie on Dempsey Hill, is seeking a Head Sommelier to lead its wine program. You will shape the wine experience for guests, ensuring each dish is paired with the perfect wine and driving the restaurant’s wine sales.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and continuously evolve a financially sustainable wine program that excites patrons.
• Implement strategies to maximise wine sales and cost efficiencies across restaurant and retail channels.
• Deliver best‑in‑class wine service, creating individualized wine profiles based on guests’ tastes and price preferences.
• Advise guests on wine purchases, collection building and wine‑related lifestyle topics.
• Manage wine and beverage purchasing, inventory, maintenance and reporting.
• Build strong relationships with wine suppliers to secure high‑quality products and favourable pricing.

Required profile

• Passionate about hospitality and delivering memorable guest experiences.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to own outcomes.
• Curious and committed to continuous learning in wine and service.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals and pairing principles.
• Experience designing and managing a wine program in a fine‑dining environment.
• Strong supplier negotiation and inventory management abilities.
