Director – Portfolio Manager, Passive Tax & Liquidity ETFs

About the role

Eastspring is seeking a Director‑Portfolio Manager to lead passive tax and liquidity management for its suite of MAS‑regulated ETFs across Singapore and the broader APAC region. This senior investment leadership role combines hands‑on portfolio oversight with platform‑level accountability, driving ETF strategy, growth and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior oversight of passive, index‑tracking ETFs, ensuring benchmark replication, low tracking error and disciplined risk management.
• Lead execution of index rebalances, reconstitutions and corporate actions, accounting for global and APAC market calendars, settlement cycles and liquidity constraints.
• Review and challenge portfolio construction approaches (replication, sampling, optimisation) to support scalability as assets grow.
• Oversee tax‑aware portfolio practices, including withholding tax management, lot selection, in‑kind optimisation and distribution outcomes.
• Partner with tax, legal and compliance teams to ensure robust governance of tax outcomes.
• Own ETF liquidity oversight, monitoring bid‑ask spreads, premiums/discounts, market depth and authorized participant relationships.
• Guide strategies for scaling ETFs while maintaining efficient primary and secondary market functioning, especially during market stress.
• Ensure all portfolios operate within MAS regulatory expectations and internal risk‑management frameworks.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in passive ETF implementation and index management.
• Deep understanding of APAC market structure, cross‑border tax considerations and MAS regulatory requirements.
• Proven senior‑level leadership across investments, risk, compliance, capital markets and product teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a track record of handling complex portfolio and liquidity issues.
