Senior Counsel – Privacy & Data Protection

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its Privacy, AI and Data Responsibility team in Singapore. The role will provide day‑to‑day privacy and data‑protection support to the Services business, ensuring compliance with applicable laws while enabling data‑driven innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with Services business teams and apply a privacy‑by‑design methodology to product and solution development.
• Analyse new and existing initiatives that collect, store, analyse, manage or transfer personal information, identifying privacy and data‑usage issues and required controls for the AP region.
• Develop and implement processes and controls for AP‑region privacy requirements, including data access, policy management, regulatory registrations and handling cardholder or government data requests.
• Monitor and review emerging data‑related legislation in the region and advise business teams on potential impacts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with Mastercard’s global privacy policies and standards.

Required profile

• Legal professional with extensive experience in privacy and data‑protection law, preferably covering the Asia‑Pacific region.
• Proven ability to provide practical legal advice to business units and to translate regulatory requirements into operational processes.
• Strong analytical skills and experience reviewing complex data‑related initiatives.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
