System Architect

About the role

Julius Baer is seeking a senior System Architect to join the IT Asia Architecture team. You will shape the bank’s digital transformation by defining architecture road‑maps, providing technical guidance, and ensuring alignment with business strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Define IT Asia’s architecture roadmap and landscape in line with the bank’s strategy.
• Lead system‑architecture initiatives, delivering solution blueprints, architecture NFRs and trade‑off analyses.
• Support architecture governance, managing technical debt, standards and guidelines.
• Drive proof‑of‑concepts for emerging technologies and tools.
• Provide technical guidance throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the bank’s overall IT architecture strategy.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise systems in the banking sector, preferably private banking/wealth management.
• Strong communication skills in English, able to explain designs to both developers and business users.
• Leadership experience in a matrix organization, with mentoring and coaching abilities.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

• Event streaming: Apache Kafka.

• DevOps principles implementation.
• Knowledge of modern web technologies.
• Experience with Machine Learning solutions (optional).
