Director of Standards (Aviation Training)

About the role

The Director of Standards (DOS) leads the quality and consistency of FlightSafety International’s training programs. Reporting to the Director of Training, the DOS ensures that all instructors meet the company’s high standards and regulatory requirements across learning centers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on supervision of new‑hire instructors during their onboarding period to verify competency.
• Conduct random Quality Assurance observations of all pilot training instructors and report findings to the Director of Training.
• Supply instructors with resources and information needed to deliver effective customer training.
• Maintain instructor qualifications in line with FlightSafety International processes, regulatory requirements, and the Instructor Performance Standards.
• Ensure Learning Center compliance with internal and external regulations through periodic audits.
• Act as a ground and flight (simulator or aircraft) instructor when required.
• Schedule and supervise new‑hire instructor training, assign mentors, and monitor progress until release to program managers.
• Establish and run in‑house programs to continuously improve instructor teaching skills.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising and mentoring aviation instructors.
• Strong knowledge of FlightSafety International training processes and regulatory standards.
• Ability to conduct quality‑assurance assessments and provide constructive feedback.
• Excellent organizational skills to coordinate training schedules and mentor assignments.
