Head of Fleet Operations

About the role

The Head of Fleet will lead end‑to‑end First Mile, Last Mile and Linehaul fleet operations for SPX Express, ensuring service level agreements, cost efficiency and productivity targets are met. This senior position oversees both in‑house drivers and external transport partners, driving continuous improvement across the network.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage on‑ground execution of fleet operations, supervising Fleet Supervisors and in‑house driver teams.
• Oversee vendor and 3PL relationships, ensuring compliance with performance standards and operational SOPs.
• Implement process improvement initiatives to boost efficiency, reduce costs and scale operations sustainably.
• Enforce operational discipline through performance management, penalty frameworks and SOP adherence.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to align fleet activities with broader business objectives.

Required profile

• Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, fleet management, last‑mile or large‑scale operations.
• Proven track record managing on‑ground teams and external vendors/3PLs.
• Strong analytical abilities with advanced Excel proficiency.
• Demonstrated experience in process improvement, cost optimisation and operational scaling.
• Excellent stakeholder management in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments.
