Junior Medical Technologist – Paediatrics

About the role

The Junior Medical Technologist will support paediatric clinical services by performing specialised lung function, allergy, and sleep monitoring tests. The role ensures accurate test execution, timely reporting, and smooth laboratory operations in line with hospital policies.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with doctors and healthcare providers to deliver patient services.
• Perform pulmonary function tests such as spirometry, NIOX‑ENO, static lung volumes, impulse oscillometry, diffusion capacity, bronchial provocation, and sweat testing.
• Conduct allergy testing, including skin prick procedures.
• Monitor and optimise utilisation of procedure rooms and manage urgent test requests.
• Record results in the laboratory information system and provide preliminary reports to clinicians.
• Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, manage inventory, and ensure consumables are stocked.
• Supervise and coach junior staff, ensuring quality standards and patient safety.
• Handle patient enquiries, appointment scheduling, and service recovery.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain statistical output reports.

Required profile

• Diploma in Medical Science or Biotechnology.
• 2–3 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience (preferred).
• Good computer literacy and ability to use laboratory information systems.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
