Research Assistant – Psychology & Child Development

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is seeking a Research Assistant for a 20‑month fixed‑term contract within the Psychology and Child & Human Development Department. You will support a multi‑phase study on burnout among emerging adult university students in Singapore, contributing to evidence synthesis, qualitative inquiry, and intervention development.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily research activities, including logistics, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
• Lead data collection efforts such as surveys and interviews, ensuring ethical compliance.
• Recruit participants and liaise with stakeholders as needed.
• Organise, code, and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
• Maintain accurate and secure research records.
• Assist in preparing literature reviews, presentations, manuscripts, and reports.
• Support the Principal Investigator with ethics applications, grant documentation, and project reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a closely related field.
• Prior experience in psychological or educational research and project coordination.
• Familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with statistical software such as SPSS, R, or Jamovi.
• Basic experience using qualitative analysis tools like NVivo.
• Experience with online data collection platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap).
