Associate Vice President, Tax

About the role

We are looking for an ambitious tax professional to join our APAC tax team in Singapore. The Associate Vice President, Tax will support Ares’ APAC‑focused funds, balancing tax advisory and structuring with compliance responsibilities across a diverse portfolio of investment vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax structuring advice for fund launches, investments, realizations and ongoing operations.
• Advise on cross‑border tax matters such as withholding tax, treaty availability, permanent establishment risk and indirect transfer tax.
• Collaborate with legal, finance and investment teams to assess tax impacts of transactions and business initiatives.
• Contribute to global and regional tax planning initiatives, including transfer pricing, to enhance tax efficiency.
• Deliver internal training to raise tax awareness among investment professionals and support teams.
• Manage annual tax compliance for Singapore‑resident entities and relevant APAC jurisdictions, overseeing corporate income tax filings and fund‑level reporting.
• Identify and implement process efficiencies and maintain robust internal controls.
• Assist in tax audits and disputes, preparing documentation and coordinating with external advisors and tax authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of tax experience, preferably in asset management, a Big 4 firm or a multinational financial institution.
• Professional qualification such as CA, CPA or CTA is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Singapore and international tax principles, especially for fund structures and cross‑border M&A.
• Experience in multi‑jurisdiction tax compliance and advisory.
• Excellent analytical, communication and organisational abilities.
