Professor of Bioethics (Academic Leadership)

About the role

The Centre for Biomedical Ethics at the National University of Singapore seeks a senior academic leader to head its Bioethics programme. The successful candidate will join the faculty as an Associate Professor or Professor, driving research excellence and shaping undergraduate and postgraduate education in medical and health ethics.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership in biomedical ethics research, producing internationally recognised publications.
• Teach and develop the Health Ethics, Law and Professionalism (HeLP) curriculum for medical undergraduates.
• Design, deliver and coordinate postgraduate bioethics programmes, supervising Master’s and doctoral candidates.
• Mentor junior faculty and students, fostering a vibrant research community.
• Contribute to the strategic growth of the Centre’s research portfolio, including collaborations across Asia.

Required profile

• Established record of research and publication in bioethics or related fields.
• Experience in teaching at the university level, preferably in health‑related ethics programmes.
• Ability to secure research funding and lead interdisciplinary projects.
• For medically qualified applicants: willingness to maintain appropriate clinical duties alongside academic responsibilities.
