Category Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Category Buyer will support one or several procurement categories for Thales in Singapore, ensuring end‑to‑end performance of the acquisition process and delivering cost‑effective, high‑quality supplier solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage RFI and RFP processes through PVet 4 (or PVet 5 where applicable) to secure competitive offers.
• Lead supplier selection exercises aligned with business needs and global category strategies.
• Deploy, implement and monitor agreed category strategies, tracking spend, savings and supplier performance.
• Provide operational support to Business Administrators, ensuring they have the information needed to raise procurement orders.
• Monitor market trends, key players, regulatory changes and innovations to keep category strategies up to date.
• Participate in the creation of specific contracts when business requirements arise.
• Report key performance indicators such as annual spend, savings percentage, supplier count, on‑time delivery and compliance with policy.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or category buying, preferably in technology, aerospace or defense sectors.
• Ability to work closely with Global Category Managers, Category Team Leaders and Tactical Buyers.
• Strong analytical mindset to assess market competitiveness and supply‑risk.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and supplier negotiations.
