CNS/ATM Safety Assurance Engineer

About the role

Egis is looking for a CNS/ATM Safety Assurance Engineer to join its Air Traffic Management team in Singapore. The role supports the delivery of safety-critical aviation projects across the Asia-Pacific region, mainly through consultancy assignments for Civil Aviation Authorities on implementing new Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems. The engineer provides independent safety engineering and assurance support throughout the systems lifecycle, from requirements and design through integration, transition, operational acceptance and change.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct safety management, system safety engineering and software safety assurance activities for CNS/ATM systems in line with local and regional requirements, ICAO provisions, RTCA/EUROCAE guidance and international good practice.
• Develop, maintain and review safety plans, safety strategies, safety arguments, safety cases, hazard logs, assumptions, safety requirements, compliance evidence and outstanding actions.
• Facilitate and document multidisciplinary safety workshops such as SCARS, HAZID, functional hazard assessment, preliminary and system safety assessments.
• Perform or review hazard identification and risk assessment using techniques such as FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, common-mode analysis, bow-tie analysis and Goal Structuring Notation (GSN).
• Review supplier safety documentation and assess compliance, traceability, evidence quality and closure of safety actions.
• Act as a regional safety subject matter expert for Egis ATM projects and bids across APAC, including airspace design, ATM system replacement, air traffic control towers and centres, GBAS and integrated tower systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in systems engineering, safety engineering, software engineering, electronic engineering, computer science, aviation or a related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant experience in ATM or CNS/ATM safety engineering, safety assurance, safety management or safety assessment.
• Demonstrable experience delivering safety activities for ANS equipment, ATM systems or other complex safety-critical systems, preferably for an ANSP, aviation authority, system supplier or consultancy.
• Experience applying safety assessment techniques (HAZID, FHA, PSSA, SSA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA, common-cause analysis) and reviewing supplier safety documentation.
• Working knowledge of ATC operations and the ATM system lifecycle, and experience with clients and multicultural project teams; previous consultancy experience is desirable.
• Formal training in system safety, safety assurance, aviation safety management or software assurance is strongly desirable.

Required skills

• Excellent command of written and spoken English, with the ability to write client-facing technical documentation and run workshops.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365; experience with requirements, hazard-log, modelling or safety-analysis tools is desirable.
• Knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, ICAO Doc 9859, EUROCONTROL methodology (ESARR 4/6), RTCA DO-278A / EUROCAE ED-109A and ED-153, GSN, and awareness of SAE ARP4761, RTCA DO-330, IEC 61508, ISO 31000 and ICAO APAC initiatives.
• Software safety assurance for ground-based CNS/ATM systems and experience with voice communication, VHF, surveillance, navigation, GBAS, digital towers and ATM centres is advantageous.
