Lab Technician (Cleanroom & Nanofabrication Facilities)

About the role

The Laboratory Technician will support the daily operation, maintenance and safe use of the cleanroom facilities at NTU’s National Centre for Advanced Integrated Photonics. The role ensures high equipment uptime, manages consumables and assists researchers in nanofabrication projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot nanofabrication equipment such as FIB, EBL, RIE, ALD and other deposition systems.
• Manage cleanroom consumables, inventory and ensure facility readiness.
• Administer booking systems, coordinate equipment usage and support multiple users.
• Train and certify users on equipment operation, enforce standard operating procedures and safety compliance.
• Support ongoing fabrication processes and research activities.

Required profile

• Diploma with at least three years’ experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience in a cleanroom or nanofabrication environment.
• Strong safety awareness and good documentation practices.
• Methodical, responsible and able to support multiple users in a shared facility.

Required skills

• Focused Ion Beam (FIB) operation.
• Electron Beam Lithography (EBL) operation.
• Reactive Ion Etching (RIE) operation.
• Lithography and thin‑film deposition systems (including ALD).
• Cleanroom consumables management and equipment booking administration.
