Lecturer / Consultant – Human‑Centred Design Research

About the role

We are looking for a Lecturer / Consultant to lead end‑to‑end human‑centred design research that informs service, product, system and information architecture decisions across academic and industry contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive human‑centred design research projects, applying mixed methods and behavioural experimentation.
• Utilise AI tools to support analysis, synthesis and sense‑making of research data.
• Translate research insights into practical design artefacts such as IA frameworks and evidence‑based recommendations.
• Develop research outputs, tools and frameworks that build capability and support grants, pilots and industry engagement.
• Collaborate with faculty, students and industry partners to facilitate co‑design, research read‑outs and alignment sessions.
• Contribute to the centre’s culture through seminars, workshops, publications and knowledge sharing.
• Deliver lectures, tutorials and student consultations, supervising interdisciplinary projects involving technology and design.
• Design and deliver high‑quality lessons using technology to promote learning.
• Engage with industry and professional bodies to stay abreast of emerging trends.
• Create rigorous curriculum, assess student abilities and promote skills upgrading through professional workshops.

Required profile

• Qualification in Design (e.g., Human‑Centred Design, UX/UI, Interaction Design) or a related field.
• Strong grounding in human‑centred design research, service design and information architecture.
• Experience applying mixed research methods in academic, applied or industry contexts.
• Working knowledge of AI tools for research analysis, synthesis and design support.
• Proven ability to translate research into practical design outcomes.
• Experience supervising interdisciplinary student projects.
• Track record of collaborating with industry partners or funded projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for sharing knowledge with students, the public and corporate clients.
