Metrology Engineer

About the role

Micron is seeking a Metrology Engineer to join its R&D fabrication team in the United States. The role focuses on developing measurement recipes, supporting new technology development, and driving continuous improvement across Micron fabs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement measurement recipes that provide rapid, accurate feedback on product integrity.
• Participate in new technology development and startup activities alongside R&D fab sites.
• Contribute to global improvement initiatives such as the Copy‑Smart Team (CST) and share best‑known methods across the network.
• Set up tool qualification criteria and monitor performance using Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts.
• Collaborate with Engineering Operations and Application teams to optimize tool maintenance schedules and utilization.
• Lead projects aimed at enhancing inline detection, reducing cost, and improving tool availability.
• Partner with tool suppliers to explore innovative solutions for shrinking technology nodes.
• Provide data analysis, summarise results, and recommend process changes to improve quality and reduce costs.
• Train engineering teams on recipe maintenance, tool recovery, and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or Science.
• Strong analytical, logical, and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across all levels.
• Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
• Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable.
• Interest in the semiconductor industry and familiarity with Micron preferred.
