Research Assistant – Organic Chemistry Lab

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU Singapore seeks a Research Assistant to support Prof. Loh Teck Peng’s organic chemistry laboratory. The role focuses on day‑to‑day laboratory operations, housekeeping, chemical procurement and administrative assistance while facilitating ongoing research projects.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory records, inventories and safety compliance.
• Coordinate approved procurement, purchasing documentation and chemical ordering.
• Provide routine administrative support to the principal investigator and research team.
• Assist with supervised experimental work, data collection and documentation.
• Ensure laboratory housekeeping, safety procedures and procedural compliance are upheld.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Relevant research experience in organic or synthetic chemistry (preferred).
• Strong organisational abilities to manage records, inventories and procurement paperwork.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory safety, good research practices and accurate record keeping.
• Capability to support experimental work under supervision and perform basic data analysis.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and proficiency with common office software.
• Meticulous, responsible and able to work independently while prioritising multiple tasks.
