Research Fellow - Main Group Chemistry

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) at NTU is looking for a Research Fellow in Main Group Chemistry. The appointee will play a significant role in research, synthesising low-valent main group compounds with a unique electronic structure and investigating their reactivity, especially the fundamental chemistry of p-block element-based compounds such as boron-containing molecules.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out research and project work, including data collection, reporting, presentation and writing manuscripts.
• Use experimental and analytical techniques from basic Schlenk techniques to computational methods with the Gaussian program.
• Draft detailed reports on experimental results and present findings to other scientists.
• Monitor laboratory equipment, minimise malfunctions and follow safety regulations.
• Mentor undergraduates, exchange students, PhD students and new research staff.
• Take part in laboratory management and university duties and tasks.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of fundamental and advanced main group chemistry.
• Strong background and experience in main group chemistry and catalysis.
• Publication history in top international journals in the related field.
• Communication skills and leadership to work as a member of a team.
