Science Lab Assistant (Toa Payoh)

About the role

The Science Lab Assistant will support the daily operations of two Science Rooms and a TinkerSpace in a school environment. Working Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, you will ensure the labs are safe, organized, and ready for teaching and enrichment activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and pack away laboratory apparatus and materials for lessons and programmes.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized conditions in both Science Rooms and the TinkerSpace.
• Label, store, and maintain equipment and consumables according to safety standards.
• Manage inventory, conduct stock‑taking, and track usage of resources.
• Handle loan and return of apparatus with proper documentation.
• Perform routine checks, basic maintenance, and coordinate servicing or repairs with vendors.
• Provide administrative support to the Science Department, including logistics for exhibitions, competitions, and enrichment activities.
• Assist teachers during lessons by operating relevant equipment and supporting classroom activities.
• Undertake additional operational or support duties as assigned by school leaders or heads of department.

Required profile

• GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent qualification.
• Strong organisational, planning, and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff.
• Preferably at least three years of relevant experience in a school or laboratory setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
