Senior Software Engineer - MES Integration

About the role

Illumina is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, maintain and improve the integration of manufacturing equipment with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The role supports the move toward automation solutions, develops reports that give operational insight into equipment, process and product improvement, and helps ensure compliance with the organization's regulatory and quality systems.

Key responsibilities

• Gather user requirements from Manufacturing, Process and Product teams to map existing manufacturing processes for automation solutions.
• Integrate automation solutions with MES to enforce manufacturing process flow and data integrity.
• Explore ways to improve application and system effectiveness and lead collaboration across teams to sustain and enhance applications for existing or new products.
• Investigate and resolve issues to meet higher quality standards.
• Develop detailed test plans, cases and scripts covering various scenarios and conditions.
• Present project plans and updates to stakeholders and comply with documentation standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to application and MES integration.
• Develop and maintain reports that support decision-making for process, equipment and product improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related computing or engineering degree.
• At least 5 years of software development experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Required skills

• Software development and maintenance with languages such as Java or .NET.
• Familiarity with the MES system, especially Camstar, is a plus.
• Beneficial: ZNT PAC framework, SECS/GEM, OPC, TCP/IP and Modbus TCP protocols.
• Beneficial: Software Life Cycle Management, SCRUM, validation principles for the medical industry, and knowledge of FDA cGMP, ISO and other quality systems for medical products.
