UI/UX Designer

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned UI/UX Designer to shape the digital experience of a volunteer management system. You will work closely with product, research, and engineering teams to create intuitive, accessible interfaces for coordinators, administrators, and volunteers.

Key responsibilities

• Design UI screens and end‑to‑end flows across core user journeys.
• Translate product requirements and research insights into concrete, usable interface designs.
• Establish consistent UI patterns and components, ensuring a cohesive visual language.
• Plan, conduct, and analyse usability testing, iterating designs based on findings.
• Ensure all interfaces comply with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with researchers, product managers, and engineers to move designs from concept to implementation.
• Contribute reusable patterns back to the government design system where relevant.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in UI or product design with a portfolio of shipped digital products.
• Strong UI craftsmanship covering layout, typography, hierarchy, and interaction design for responsive, data‑heavy screens.
• Advanced proficiency in Figma, including componentisation and design tokens.
• Hands‑on experience planning and executing usability tests.
• Practical fluency in accessibility and inclusive design (WCAG 2.1, ARIA‑aware design).
• Experience designing workflow‑oriented systems such as dashboards or scheduling tools is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate design rationale to technical and non‑technical audiences.
