APAC Media Relations Spokesperson

About the role

The APAC Media Relations Spokesperson acts as both a spokesperson and a regional coordinator, ensuring Shell’s strategy is communicated consistently across print, broadcast, online and social media throughout the Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Build and strengthen relationships with senior journalists from international news wires and influential trade publications, particularly in Singapore.
• Engage with international media on projects, emerging issues and crisis situations across APAC.
• Support Australia‑specific media relations work, including leave cover and major announcements.
• Leverage senior leader visits to drive consistent briefings and align with group messaging.
• Act independently when representing Group policies to media, determining tone and response level.
• Filter incoming media interview requests and advise in‑country media leads.
• Drive proactive activities that support Shell’s business strategy.
• Implement strategy, policy and standards to ensure consistency of media relations across the region.
• Connect country Corporate Relations teams with Group standards, guidelines and best practices.

Required profile

• Clear understanding of Shell’s strategy and the ability to communicate it coherently.
• Strong experience in media relations within the APAC region.
• Ability to act on own initiative and make judgement calls on media engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on consistency and alignment across markets.
