Assistant Director (Integration & Analysis)

About the role

The Assistant Director (Integration & Analysis) will ensure that soldiers are equipped with ergonomically designed equipment that integrates seamlessly with their tasks, enhancing performance and safety. This role provides Human Factor Engineering (HFE) expertise across the acquisition, design, development, and testing of soldier systems.

Key responsibilities

• Review designs of soldier systems and provide specialist recommendations for ergonomic improvements.
• Design and conduct tests and evaluations to identify human‑factor issues across a range of equipment.
• Analyse test results to optimise human‑system integration and improve soldier performance and experience.
• Develop and maintain HFE matrices, performing periodic reviews for all soldier systems.
• Collaborate with the Defence Technology Community and academic institutions to drive human performance research and field trials.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Factor Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum six years of experience applying HFE principles in product design and testing.
• Established network among HFE practitioners.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proven capability to work in cross‑functional teams and manage diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel for overseas seminars and conferences.
• Ability to conduct laboratory and field‑based evaluations.
