Assistant Director, Student Development

About the role

The Student Affairs Office at NTU seeks an Assistant Director to lead student development across transition, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and governance. The role provides overall leadership, sets collective priorities, and ensures coherent outcomes throughout the student lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Transition Experience for undergraduate and postgraduate students by setting strategic direction, advising the Vice Provost, and overseeing the Transition and Orientation Programme.
• Strategise and drive undergraduate and postgraduate student development programmes in partnership with Associate Deans and Associate Chairs, promoting inter‑school and UG‑PG collaboration.
• Provide strategic oversight of School Constituent Clubs, Scholar Clubs, and the NTU Honours College to develop student leaders through experiential activities.
• Senior oversight of the NTU Students’ Union and Graduate Students’ Association, aligning their activities with the university’s mission and fostering constructive dialogue with stakeholders.
• Lead policy and governance for all student organisations, formulating, reviewing, and operationalising policies, and managing stakeholder engagement on university‑wide issues.

Required profile

• Degree in any discipline.
• 10–12 years of relevant experience interacting with students or youth, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role; tertiary education experience is advantageous.
• Deep understanding of student development practices and co‑curricular programme design.
• Proven stakeholder‑management, communication, negotiation and influencing skills across organisational hierarchies.
• Strong passion for nurturing students and ability to lead multiple portfolio leads, coach managers, manage performance and align resources across interdependent workstreams.
