Assistant Professor – Physiology & Translational Research

About the role

The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position within the Heat Resilience & Performance Centre and the Human Potential Translational Research Programme. The successful candidate will lead an independent, internationally competitive research programme focused on physiological processes in health and disease.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and sustain an independent research programme in physiology.
• Conduct high‑quality basic, translational, clinical, or applied research.
• Publish findings in reputable peer‑reviewed journals.
• Secure competitive research funding.
• Build collaborations within NUS and with external partners.
• Mentor students, research staff, and early‑career researchers.
• Contribute to undergraduate and/or graduate education as appropriate.
• Support the School’s academic, research, and service activities.
• Translate research outcomes into scientific, clinical, public‑health, or policy‑relevant impacts.

Required profile

• PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in Physiology, Biomedical Science, Medicine, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Relevant post‑doctoral, clinical, or independent research experience.
• Strong publication record appropriate to career stage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to mentoring, academic development, and research excellence.
