Assistant Professor – Tenure Track in Immunology

About the role

The National University of Singapore is seeking an Assistant Professor on a tenure‑track basis to join the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The successful candidate will develop and lead an independent research programme focused on translational immunology, bridging fundamental discoveries with clinical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Establish an externally funded, independent research programme in immunology with a translational focus.
• Conduct cutting‑edge research aligned with the Immunology Translational Research Program’s goals, including vaccine development, antimicrobial resistance, pathogen‑host interactions, anti‑tumour immunity, immune ageing and public‑health interventions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of clinicians, scientists and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and supervise undergraduate, graduate and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in microbiology or immunology.
• Publish high‑quality, peer‑reviewed research and present findings at national and international conferences.
• Participate actively in ITRP events, workshops and outreach activities.

Required profile

• PhD, MD or equivalent with at least three years of post‑doctoral experience in microbiology, immunology, epidemiology or a related field.
• Demonstrated research excellence evidenced by first‑author high‑impact publications.
• Strong potential to secure competitive external funding.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
