Associate Software Engineer (Full Stack & Java)

About the role

NCS, an AI tech services company and subsidiary of the Singtel Group, is hiring an Associate Software Engineer in Singapore. You will build, test and enhance full-stack features under the guidance of senior engineers, applying engineering standards and writing clean, tested code while collaborating with product, QA, DevOps and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer, test and deploy frontend and backend features following established architecture, coding standards and secure development practices.
• Craft clean, reusable and well-tested code, build responsive web components and develop RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Diagnose and resolve bugs and defects with team support.
• Partner with product, QA and DevOps teams, take part in code reviews and help strengthen test coverage and release readiness.
• Use version control systems and support CI/CD pipeline improvements.
• Stay current with tools and frameworks, adopt AI-augmented development tools, and seek mentorship from senior engineers.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Foundational proficiency in at least one frontend framework (React.js, Next.js, Vue.js or Angular).
• Foundational proficiency in at least one backend technology (Java Spring Boot, Node.js or Python frameworks such as Django, Flask or FastAPI).
• Understanding of RESTful API development, databases and SQL, and familiarity with version control and CI/CD concepts.
• Awareness of basic security principles and secure coding practices, and experience with unit testing frameworks.

Nice-to-have

• Exposure to UI libraries such as Material-UI, Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap, and familiarity with Figma.
• Basic understanding of logs, monitoring dashboards, caching, rate limiting, load balancing, autoscaling or Redis.
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Cursor.
