Associate Sommelier

About the role

The Associate Sommelier supports the wine program at Raffles Hotel Singapore, delivering friendly and efficient wine service that enhances the guest dining experience. Working closely with the Sommelier, you will help guests discover the perfect wine pairings while upholding the hotel’s high standards of hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Serve wine in optimal condition, ensuring correct glassware, temperature and presentation.
• Assist the Sommelier by offering wine options, providing advice, and taking orders.
• Promote aperitifs, upsell wine by the glass or bottle, and manage after‑meal wine service.
• Maintain a polished appearance in line with the hotel’s grooming standards.
• Greet guests courteously, use guest names when appropriate, and personalize service.
• Accurately record wine orders and ensure timely delivery to tables.
• Handle wine stock, cellar organization, requisitions and daily wine reports.
• Uphold cleanliness and safety standards in all wine‑service areas.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Hospitality or a related field.
• 6–12 months experience in a wine‑service or similar hospitality role.
• Experience in wine making, wine sales, or relevant certifications (e.g., WSET Level 2, Master Court Sommelier) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of wine, beverages and food pairing.
• Service or retail experience with a focus on guest satisfaction.

Required skills

• Wine service expertise.
• Knowledge of wine storage, temperature control and glassware.
• Familiarity with wine‑list management and reporting.
