Backend Engineer – AI Applications for Local Services

About the role

Join TikTok’s Local Service team in Singapore as a Backend Engineer focused on AI‑driven products. You will help build the infrastructure that powers smart content generation, personalized shopping assistants, and automated merchant support for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, high‑performance backend services for AI‑enabled features.
• Collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to deliver intelligent functionalities to production.
• Develop APIs, data pipelines, and micro‑services that support creator tools and merchant operations.
• Ensure system reliability, low latency, and cost efficiency in a high‑traffic environment.
• Participate in architecture discussions and promote best practices for code quality and engineering excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming experience in Go, Java, or Python.
• Hands‑on experience with microservice architecture and cloud‑native platforms (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Familiarity with relational and non‑relational databases such as MySQL, Redis, and MongoDB.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross‑functional, international teams.
