Backend Engineer – Application Computing (Data & AI)

About the role

Join TikTok’s Recommendation Architecture Data Platform team as a Backend Engineer focused on Application Computing for Data and AI. You will help build and maintain the offline computing systems that power recommendation services for billions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement efficient offline computing systems for large‑scale recommendation platforms.
• Develop flexible, scalable, high‑performance storage systems and computing models.
• Troubleshoot production issues and build tools/mechanisms to ensure system stability and high availability.
• Collaborate with the team to abstract real‑time computing systems and create unified feature and sample platforms.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and building large‑scale offline computing infrastructure.
• Strong background in high‑performance storage solutions and distributed computing models.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve production incidents quickly.
• Experience working in fast‑moving, data‑driven environments.
