Backend Software Engineer I

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Junior Backend Software Engineer to join the Transaction domain and regional product team in Singapore. You will work with an international team to drive innovation across the vendor journey, from cart and checkout to post‑order experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement features used across the global platform.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional, international teams to manage priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
• Contribute to system architecture evolution to support current and future growth.
• Enforce coding standards and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Implement automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, functional) to ensure reliability.
• Apply cloud environment, CI/CD, testing and validation practices.
• Use design patterns and reliability‑management techniques such as resiliency, autoscaling, monitoring and alerting.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues, continuously optimizing performance and scalability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 1 year of professional backend development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with software architecture, design patterns, algorithms and automated testing.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and patterns (strong plus).
• Solid understanding of relational and distributed databases, including ACID properties and indexing.
• Experience working in agile, cross‑functional international teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
