BAU Lead - Data Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned BAU Lead – Data Engineering to head our data operations in a cloud‑first environment. The role combines technical leadership with hands‑on implementation of AWS and Snowflake solutions, ensuring stable production support and continuous improvement of our data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop tools to streamline data flows between internal/external systems and the data lake/warehouse.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define data structure, availability, scalability and accessibility requirements.
• Build robust, reproducible ingestion pipelines that collect, clean, harmonise and consolidate diverse data sources.
• Lead migration of legacy transformation jobs from Oracle, Hive, Impala, MS‑SQL to Snowflake, Spark and Python on AWS Glue.
• Provide day‑to‑day BAU operations: production support, incident management, platform stability and performance tuning.
• Document processes, maintain datasets and drive data‑quality improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with Data Scientists, Architects and DevOps engineers on analytics projects and deployment pipelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a team of data engineers in a BAU or production‑support environment.
• Strong background in AWS services (S3, Glue, DMS, MWAA, IAM) and Snowflake architecture.
• Hands‑on expertise with SQL, Python and PySpark, as well as workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow/MWAA.
• Demonstrated ability to migrate legacy data pipelines to modern cloud‑native solutions.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a strategic vision for data management.
