Chief Engineer – Complex Programs (CPG)

Key responsibilities

• Direct an engineering group responsible for design, development and implementation of unusually complex programs across the business‑unit product line, adhering to budgets and release schedules.
• Anticipate future needs and initiate new approaches to engineering design and development at the business‑unit level with significant customer impact.
• Develop long‑range plans and create engineering or product‑specific strategies, reviewing specifications to meet goals.
• Interface with internal and external customers on engineering issues related to the unit’s products.
• Collaborate with senior business‑group management to ensure programs, strategies and processes address high‑value problems and align with organizational direction.
• Provide approval guidelines and leadership to reporting engineering managers for long‑term program, strategy and process design.
• Define performance metrics and report on engineering function progress against business‑unit goals.

Required profile

• Broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems, theories and engineering practices.
• Strong industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance.
• Leadership experience managing managers of managers; ability to execute segment/functional business plans and contribute to strategy.
• Proven capability to resolve highly complex business problems using advanced analytical judgment.
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with senior executives and external organizations.
