Commis Cook

About the role

The Commis Cook supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment in a hotel setting.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, wash, peel, and store fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely.
• Cook and assemble food to meet quality, presentation, and checklist standards.
• Prepare cold foods and serve portions onto appropriate receptacles.
• Set up and break down the workstation, clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Monitor food temperature and quality throughout preparation.
• Follow all company safety, security, and hygiene policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and perform repetitive motions.

Required skills

• Food preparation and ingredient handling.
• Operating kitchen equipment (ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers).
• Accurate measuring and mixing of ingredients.
• Temperature monitoring for appliances and food.
• Sanitation and kitchen cleaning procedures.
