Corporate Counsel

About the role

Join Cummins' global Legal function as a Corporate Counsel supporting the company's operations across Northeast and Southeast Asia, with a primary focus on the Japan business. You will act as the lead lawyer for complex legal matters, partnering closely with business stakeholders to protect and advance Cummins' interests.

Key responsibilities

• Handle a variety of complex legal matters and projects across multiple business units in the region.
• Lead legal support for the Japan business, managing relationships between the Legal function and key internal stakeholders.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a range of agreements, including master supply and service contracts, turnkey/EPC agreements, tenders, and regional supply addendums.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally and with global teams to develop and implement legal strategies.
• Manage projects and matters with limited supervision, exercising independent judgment and overseeing outside‑counsel relationships.
• Provide trusted advice to mid‑ and senior‑level management, balancing legal risk with practical business considerations.
• Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices, communicating obligations and supporting compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited law school.
• Business‑level proficiency in Japanese.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, and deadlines.
• Proactive, action‑oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
