Cyber Security Engineer – Deception Technologies

About the role

Our client, a leading cybersecurity firm, is looking for a technically accomplished Cyber Security Engineer to design and implement deception‑led security capabilities across on‑premise, application and cloud environments. You will work closely with red‑team, SOC and incident‑response specialists to strengthen client defences against advanced threats.

Key responsibilities

• Design realistic deception ecosystems using honeypots, decoy assets, honeytokens and simulated attack surfaces.
• Study adversary activity, map likely attack paths and translate findings into actionable detection rules.
• Develop bespoke tools and automation to integrate deception technologies with SIEM, EDR and monitoring platforms.
• Collaborate with red‑team, SOC and incident‑response teams across multiple client engagements.
• Produce clear technical documentation, solution designs, architecture diagrams and investigation reports.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in at least one area: reverse engineering & malware analysis, full‑stack software development, or security architecture & threat modelling.
• Solid understanding of adversary behaviours, MITRE ATT&CK techniques and offensive security methodologies.
• Practical experience in penetration testing, red teaming, threat hunting or incident response.
• Ability to create clear technical documentation and architectural artefacts.
• Relevant certifications such as OSCP, OSEP, OSCE, CREST or GREM are advantageous.
