DevOps Lead (Platform & Infrastructure Engineering)

About the role

We are looking for a senior DevOps Lead to own and evolve our AWS‑based platform and infrastructure engineering practice. You will drive modernization, cost optimisation, and reliability across a complex multi‑cloud environment while mentoring a growing team of engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, refactor and scale existing AWS infrastructure and Terraform codebases, ensuring clean remote state management.
• Lead proactive upgrade cycles for AWS services, EKS platform versions and Terraform providers to reduce technical debt.
• Analyse cloud spend and optimise compute, storage and data‑transfer costs without sacrificing resilience.
• Architect next‑generation platform patterns such as policy‑as‑code and self‑service portals.
• Operate production Amazon EKS clusters, handling zero‑downtime upgrades and node‑group efficiencies.
• Own ArgoCD implementation, enforcing drift detection and multi‑cluster synchronization.
• Tune container workloads, adjusting pod resources, autoscaling and security boundaries.
• Manage and secure a fleet of self‑hosted Bitbucket Runners for fast, cost‑effective CI execution.
• Maintain Bitbucket Pipelines, integrating compliance and security gates.
• Enhance observability (metrics, logs, traces) and monitor SLAs/SLIs/SLOs, acting as escalation point for incidents.
• Mentor DevOps engineers, set standards for IaC quality and documentation.
• Collaborate with development leads to translate operational pain points into platform roadmap items.

Required profile

• 7+ years in DevOps, Cloud Operations or SRE, with at least 2 years leading engineering teams.
• Deep production experience with core AWS services at scale.
• Strong expertise in large‑scale Terraform codebases and remote state management.
• Hands‑on experience with production Kubernetes (EKS) and continuous delivery using ArgoCD.
• Proven track record managing self‑hosted CI/CD runner fleets, preferably Bitbucket Runners.
