Digital Graphics Journalist – Data Visualisation & Storytelling

About the role

Join SPH Media’s newsroom to create compelling visual stories that combine data, design, and journalism. You will work closely with developers and reporters to turn complex information into engaging graphics for our audience.

Key responsibilities

• Write, design and collaborate with developers to build visual stories, including data visualisations and interactive formats.
• Conduct investigative research with journalists, locate and verify data sources.
• Use statistics and data‑science tools for parsing, scraping, and wrangling data; access APIs or external sources as needed.
• Manage workflow for data‑driven and visual stories within the newsroom.
• Analyse story performance and recommend improvements to workflow and concepts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, graphic design, data science, statistics or computer science.
• Experience in journalism or reporting (internship experience is a plus).
• Comfortable with at least two of the following: reporting, data visualisation, front‑end development, or data‑analysis programming.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when required.
