Director of Software Engineering

About the role

BIT is seeking a seasoned Director of Software Engineering to lead its distributed engineering team supporting the asset management business. This senior leader will shape the technical roadmap, ensure high‑quality delivery, and drive AI‑enabled engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a geographically distributed team of engineers, overseeing system development for asset management services.
• Define technical roadmap, engineering standards, and AI‑driven processes to improve delivery quality and efficiency.
• Participate in solution design, review high‑complexity modules, and create execution plans for risky problems.
• Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and manage recruitment, training, and resource allocation across business, product, operations, and risk teams.
• Represent engineering in cross‑functional communication and coordinate with other engineering groups.

Required profile

• 6+ years of backend development experience, including at least 3 years managing technical teams.
• Deep expertise in large‑scale, distributed systems and cloud services (AWS).
• Experience in financial services such as asset management, trading, or payments is preferred.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑regional or remote engineering teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Golang or Rust.
• Scripting and tooling with Python, Bash, and SQL.
• In‑depth knowledge of MySQL transaction isolation and patterns.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services: EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, VPC, ELB.
• Design, maintenance, and iteration of distributed systems, focusing on data consistency, testability, and observability.
