Drug-Patent Relationship Specialist

About the role

PatSnap is seeking a Drug‑Patent Relationship Specialist to determine how patents connect to pharmaceutical products and the underlying science. This role goes beyond simple keyword matching, requiring deep investigation of patent evidence and the ability to document rigorous reasoning.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze drug‑patent relationships and classify patents as core, recommended, low‑confidence review or excluded.
• Investigate patent documentation in depth, including titles, abstracts, claims, descriptions, families, applicants and related information.
• Determine how patents relate to pharmaceutical products, covering drugs, chemical structures, biological targets, indications, mechanisms and other scientific concepts.
• Use patent families and publicly available data to build a comprehensive view of the invention‑drug relationship.
• Document evidence, capture snippets, sources, relationship types, confidence levels and reasons for inclusion or exclusion.
• Make careful judgments when evidence is ambiguous, distinguishing confirmed, plausible and low‑confidence connections.
• Contribute to the drug‑patent relationship framework by defining schemas, recommendation tiers, exclusion rules and quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with the AI Native Data Engineer and other team members.

• Attention to detail when documenting reasoning and confidence levels.
• Comfort working with interdisciplinary data across patents, chemistry, biology and clinical domains.
