Electrical Design Engineer – Toa Payoh

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to lead the end‑to‑end electrical engineering scope for power plants, data centres, solar PV and battery energy storage projects. Based in Toa Payoh, you will work from a developer’s perspective, handling feasibility studies, sizing, concept and detailed design, tender preparation and technical evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Support business development with electrical concepts, feasibility assessments, capacity estimates and cost inputs for bids.
• Produce design deliverables such as single‑line diagrams, schematics, module/inverter layouts, stringing arrangements, protection schemes and grid‑interconnection concepts.
• Develop design specifications, functional requirements and Employer’s Requirements for tendering and execution.
• Perform electrical sizing, cable sizing and voltage‑drop calculations.
• Evaluate new technologies including advanced instrumentation, smart sensors and alternatives to SF6‑insulated GIS.
• Participate in FAT/SAT and functional testing to verify equipment compliance.
• Run system performance analysis and software simulations for Solar PV and BESS to validate energy yield and operational behaviour.
• Provide on‑site engineering support during construction, address RFIs, clarify designs and resolve deviations.
• Review EPC contractor and vendor submissions for compliance with standards and contract requirements.
• Collaborate with O&M teams to assess performance, identify optimisation opportunities and feed lessons learned into future designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in electrical systems design for power generation, data centres, solar PV or battery storage projects.
• Proven ability to lead technical design teams and mentor junior engineers.
