Elementary EAL Teacher (International School)

About the role

Stamford American International School is seeking a qualified English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher for its elementary programme. The role focuses on supporting students with varying English proficiency levels, enabling them to access the IB curriculum confidently.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver EAL instruction for beginning to intermediate learners.
• Collaborate with homeroom teachers to co‑plan, co‑teach, co‑assess and reflect on student progress.
• Provide grade‑level and teacher training on language acquisition strategies.
• Utilise data systems such as WIDA and MAP to monitor and report student outcomes.
• Integrate digital instructional tools and Google Workspace into lessons.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of classroom teaching experience in EAL or multilingual settings.
• Strong knowledge of language acquisition theory, assessment, and curriculum design.
• Experience with IB PYP or inquiry‑based learning is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to co‑teach in inclusive classrooms.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.

Required skills

• Proficiency with WIDA assessment system.
• Experience using MAP data tools.
• Skilled in Google Workspace for education.
