Finance Director – Physical Commodities

About the role

Marex is seeking a senior finance professional to lead the financial function for its physical commodities trading business in Singapore. Reporting to the Financial Director, you will design and scale finance, reporting and control frameworks to support rapid growth while ensuring robust risk‑light operations.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with physical traders, logistics and operations to provide commercial insight on pricing, margins and profitability.
• Own end‑to‑end financial reporting, including daily P&L, month‑end close, management and statutory reporting.
• Manage working capital, inventory financing, trade finance structures and cash‑flow forecasting linked to physical flows.
• Ensure compliance with internal risk limits, accounting policies, IFRS/US GAAP and Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements.
• Lead finance aspects of ETRM/CTRM and inventory systems, driving automation and data‑quality improvements.
• Develop and mentor a team of finance professionals, setting objectives and succession plans.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in physical commodity trading finance or merchanting.
• Proven leadership of finance teams in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.
• Strong commercial mindset with ability to challenge and support trading teams.
• Experience partnering with front‑office traders and risk managers.

Required skills

• Expertise in ETRM/CTRM platforms (e.g., Brady/Quor Fintrade, Ion Aspect).
• Advanced MS Excel and MS Office proficiency.
• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards.
• Understanding of Sarbanes‑Oxley operational requirements.
• Hands‑on experience with inventory accounting, demurrage, freight and insurance cost accruals.
