Financial Accountant (12-Month Fixed Term)

About the role

Anglo American Marketing, which transports, markets and sells the group's products, is looking for a Financial Accountant for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Singapore. Reporting to the Team Lead of the Financial Reporting team, the role sits in the Record to Report (RTR) workstream and works with stakeholders across the Metal businesses to ensure accurate business and financial information is available when needed. It also supports the Team Lead with financial closing and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Drive efficient finance operations: understand the link between Invoice to Pay (ITP), Invoice to Cash (ITC) and RTR, resolve anomalies and record transactions correctly within agreed timelines, in line with financial controls and accounting policies and UK ICFR requirements.
• Design and optimise processes that communicate transaction information across stakeholders, eliminate manual intervention and work with the Information Management department to automate activities.
• Deliver on-demand information: ensure data integrity, coordinate monthly financial statements, board papers and other regular reports, draft accounting papers for new business initiatives and anticipate the information needed to maximise business value.
• Support complex accounting processes such as revenue recognition, fair value of financial instruments, inventory valuation and commodity contract classification, and help produce monthly commentary for Group Finance and production units.
• At key reporting periods, support timely delivery of regulatory reporting to auditors, tax agents and the company secretary.
• Implement technologies that improve controls and automate transactions, including defining user needs and managing UAT for new systems.
• Improve workflows and standardise processes across systems such as SAP, Blackline, Hyperion Financial Management and Aspect, and lead junior accountants and analysts.

Required profile

• Excellent academic credentials in Accountancy or another business-related degree.
• Solid business and financial acumen (e.g. through CFA or similar).
• Experience in metals commodities marketing, trading and logistics is preferred.
• Ability to identify how the business generates value.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Finance Operations ITP/ITC/RTR process flow and internal controls.
• Working knowledge of accounting, consolidation and CTRM systems such as SAP S/4HANA, Blackline, HFM and Aspect preferred.
• Process improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma.
• Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
