Fire Rated Products Inspector

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Inspector to support the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Product Listing Scheme (PLS) certification for Scheme 5 and Scheme 2 fire‑rated products. The role involves performing factory and product inspections, conducting technical assessments and ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant standards and SCDF requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out initial, periodic and surveillance inspections of manufacturing facilities under the SCDF PLS.
• Assess manufacturing processes, production controls, quality systems and product conformity against applicable standards.
• Review technical documentation such as test reports, specifications, drawings and quality records during inspections.
• Perform product sampling, coordinate testing and document findings.
• Identify non‑conformities, evaluate corrective actions and monitor their closure.
• Prepare clear and timely inspection reports and maintain supporting records.
• Manage surveillance schedules to meet certification cycle deadlines.
• Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers and internal teams on inspection requirements and technical findings.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and digitalisation of the PLS inspection process.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Building & Construction, Fire Safety, Materials Science or a related field.
• Relevant experience in inspection, testing, certification, quality assurance or conformity assessment.
• Familiarity with SCDF PLS Scheme 2 and/or Scheme 5 is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and sound technical judgement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
• Willingness to travel locally and overseas for factory inspections.
