IT Software Specialist

About the role

The Global Asia Institute is seeking an IT Software Specialist to design, develop, and maintain web applications that support its research activities. You will work across the full software lifecycle, collaborating with research and content teams to deliver user‑centric, secure platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive web platforms using modern front‑end and back‑end technologies.
• Build complete application stacks, including UI layouts, server‑side services, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Write clean, well‑documented, testable code and manage version control.
• Monitor website performance, analyze traffic with GA4/Matomo, and implement SEO best practices.
• Maintain and optimise cloud environments (e.g., GCP) for cost, performance, and security.
• Collaborate with content and research teams to enhance user engagement and data collection.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of web development experience, covering both front‑end and back‑end work.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and debugging abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript
• One or more front‑end frameworks: React, Vue, or Angular
• SQL and relational database knowledge
• Figma, Tailwind, Nuxt.js (preferred)
• Cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or AWS
• Firebase, Google Analytics (GA4), Matomo, Google Search Console
• Sanity.io and SEO implementation
