Java Backend Software Engineer

About the role

EPAM is looking for a Java Backend Software Engineer to join its Singapore team. You will design, build, and maintain cloud‑native microservices and event‑driven solutions that power critical business functions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop back‑end services in Java using microservices patterns.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs and service integrations with versioning and reliability in mind.
• Implement event streaming and messaging using Apache Kafka.
• Build, deploy, and tune cloud‑native workloads on Microsoft Azure.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, write queries and optimise performance.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing and release activities.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive root‑cause fixes.
• Document technical specifications for services and APIs.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Java back‑end development with clean coding practices.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and service‑to‑service communication.
• Hands‑on experience deploying and operating applications on Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Apache Kafka for messaging or event‑driven design.
• Strong skills in PostgreSQL schema design, query writing and performance tuning.
• Ability to solve problems in both development and production environments.
• Clear communication and teamwork across engineering and product partners.
