Junior Sous Chef

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at Akira Back in Singapore. You will work closely with the Chef to deliver high‑quality dishes, maintain kitchen standards, and support daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters; monitor food quality and quantity.
• Thaw frozen items in refrigeration, ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and garnish.
• Maintain food logs, track inventory, and inform the Chef of excess items for daily specials.
• Communicate menu specials and out‑of‑stock items to Food & Beverage service staff.
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating team members as needed.
• Follow all safety, security, and hygiene policies; report maintenance issues and incidents.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of proprietary information.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree in culinary arts or related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant kitchen experience.
• No prior supervisory experience required.
• Ability to work long periods standing, lifting up to 25 lb, and performing repetitive motions.
