Junior/Mid-Level Workplace Interior Designer

About the role

As a Workplace Interior Designer at Gensler, you will create functional and aesthetically compelling office environments for a diverse client base. The role blends creativity with technical expertise, requiring active participation throughout all design phases.

Key responsibilities

• Develop interior design concepts, space plans, furniture layouts, elevations, sections, and detailed joinery/millwork drawings.
• Produce BIM drawing packages for design review, tendering, and construction phases.
• Select, schedule, and specify FF&E, colors, and materials in coordination with the design team.
• Create sketch plans, schematic documentation, and finish boards for client presentations.
• Act as primary design liaison with clients, attending meetings and presenting design solutions.
• Support sustainability targets by integrating LEED, WELL, Fitwel, or Greenmark strategies throughout project stages.
• Collaborate with suppliers to stay informed on new materials, brands, and special treatments.

Required profile

• 2‑6 years of experience designing workplace interiors.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited design school.
• Strong planning abilities, knowledge of furniture, finishes, codes, and budgets.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated interest and knowledge in sustainable design principles.

Required skills

• BIM drawing package development.
• Familiarity with LEED, WELL, Fitwel, or Greenmark rating systems.
• FF&E selection and specification.
• Creation of detailed interior documentation (plans, elevations, sections).
• Client presentation and communication.
