Lead Functional Business Analyst - Trading & Shipping

About the role

Ampol Trading & Shipping is implementing a new Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) system to modernise trading operations, strengthen controls and enable data-driven decisions across the Trading, Risk, Operations and Finance value chain. As Lead Functional Business Analyst, you will turn complex business needs into functional outcomes for the Oil & Gas industry, bridging business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors and governance forums. This is a hands-on, business-facing leadership role covering design, build, testing, readiness and go-live.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage Business Analysts across the workstream, coach the team and keep priorities and standards clear
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria and configuration inputs
• Run functional design workshops and playback sessions, and recommend options and trade-offs
• Define current and future-state processes and support change and training teams with process documentation and readiness materials
• Document requirements, risks, dependencies and sign-offs, and ensure traceability through design, testing and implementation
• Support UAT planning, defect identification and readiness, and drive resolution through governance channels

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Business, Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• Significant experience leading business analysis or major workstreams in large-scale technology transformation or system implementation programs
• Strong knowledge of physical commodities trading, ideally Oil & Products, across Front Office, Risk, Operations, Logistics, Scheduling or Finance
• Experience in formal program governance, including risk management, traceability and stakeholder sign-off
• Proven experience leading, coaching and developing Business Analysts
