Legal Counsel

About the role

Optiver is seeking an experienced financial‑services lawyer to serve as the primary legal adviser for its Singapore operations. The role sits within the APAC Legal team and reports to the APAC General Counsel in Sydney, supporting a fast‑growing electronic market‑making business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on structuring, risk assessments, regulatory compliance and product approvals for MAS‑licensed trading activities.
• Draft, negotiate and execute contracts with financial intermediaries, clearers, brokers and counterparties.
• Support onboarding of new financial intermediaries and ensure compliance with Singapore regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Corporate Strategy, Trading, Compliance, Risk and Technology teams to align legal solutions with business objectives.
• Work closely with global legal colleagues to maintain consistent legal standards across the firm.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with several years of experience in financial services, securities or derivatives law.
• Self‑starting, able to work independently in a dynamic, high‑performance environment.
• Strong understanding of MAS regulations and the trading products offered by Optiver (cash, ETF equity derivatives, index, FX and commodity derivatives).
• Excellent communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
